Looking Past the Inc 5000 2024 Award at TaxProMarketer

It’s with joy that I get to announce that TaxProMarketer made the Inc 5000 2024 list. This is the second time in three years for our little digital marketing business.

Yes, this award is purely based on revenue. It doesn’t tell the full story of how a company is REALLY doing, whether that be good, bad, or in-between. 

So as I sit thinking about it, I find that I am thankful for making the Inc 5000 2024 list because of what I believe it validates: our company’s vision:

“To be the leading marketing agency for the Tax and Accounting Industry.” 

I don’t think of this vision as a place we ever fully arrive at, but as a road we are always walking on. 

I was speaking at a tax industry event a few weeks ago in Detroit, and as I was addressing the crowd, I talked for a few minutes about a reality in the digital marketing space in general. 

Digital marketing, in our industry, has a low barrier to entry.

Meaning, you can slap up just about anything online with all the cheap softwares and services available, and call it marketing.

Let’s talk about websites in particular. It’s easier than ever to build a “good-looking” site. We’ve been saying this for years, but it’s truer than ever today: websites for most tax and accounting pros are glorified business cards

They are commodities, and they are ineffective.

The tech gurus in Silicon Valley have made drag-and-drop website builders easy to use, accessible, and cheap. There are new marketing agencies popping up all the time leveraging these platforms without a care to whether the site they’re building will actually yield results.

What is still hard, and will remain hard, is building a website that accomplishes two goals. 

Goal #1: Your site needs to be built and designed to get traffic.

Goal #2: Your site needs to be built and designed to spark conversations.

To me, anything less than that is just about a waste of time. 

I believe being on the Inc 5000 2024 list is a feedback loop that the message we’re bringing to our industry is resonating. 

Marketing is relational. 

Weekly email marketing is your secret weapon. 

Digital marketing is an ecosystem with various components that all work together. 

I believe being on the Inc 5000 2024 list is also a statement that being good at your craft, matters

To the team of craftsmen and craftswomen at TaxProMarketer – I’m proud of the good and meaningful work you’re doing. It’s my honor and joy to work among such a skilled group of individuals. This award is for you. Well done!
