AI is coming for your job.
Just the other day I saw “tax preparer” at the very top of the most recent jobs list that OpenAI will be replacing soon. They’re 98% certain of it. At number 4 on the list: Bookkeeper.

This isn’t “new” news, as we have all seen these kinds of lists for many months now. My take on AI replacing accountants (and hopefully yours) is that this outcome isn’t likely. There are so many tangibles and intangibles that AI can’t replace.
Accuracy, for one. Add to that personal support and guidance, critical thinking, checks and balances, experience, and a human interface (the most underrated force of all).
But it does put some pressure on the tax industry to communicate their value to an audience who is constantly hearing about how they can use AI (for free) to make tax filing easier and faster.
This is a different kind of competitor than TurboTax.

Right now—this tax season—is when you have the greatest chance of communicating your worth—and actually being heard.
Write an email, post on social media, put it on your website, get your happy clients to talk about it with a Google review, put a letter in the mail.
