True Independence

What a whirlwind week.
My wife and I leave on Monday for a little trip. In a sense, we’re saying “ta ta” to OUR independence…as our many years of being “single” (without kids) goes by the wayside when we go pick up those two children in Ethiopia.
And with the celebration of Independence Day pending (tomorrow), it’s made me think of this whole notion of business independence–and what it takes to achieve it.
You see, I bet you started your business with great hopes of creating the lifestyle of your dreams: a staff to manage the tasks you didn’t want to deal with…a healthy income to fund your hobbies and your passions…a tax business that “runs itself” — steady new client flow, minimal attrition and operations set up for maximum accuracy and efficiency.
You there yet?
Well…maybe you are, and you’re just looking for that next “slight edge” (a worthy pursuit). Or perhaps you’re not there yet–and you’re looking for strategies and tools to get there.
At least, I hope so.
Because how far you go in life (and how fast you get there) is NOT related to how smart you are…how many hours you work…how much tax code you know…even how much you’ve sacrificed.
Success Is NOT a Merit Badge Earned Through Struggle.
It all depends on the quality of your tools.
That’s true, especially for the tax business owner, in this economy.
Stop viewing systems and tools as “expenses”, but rather as investments in your TIME and in your results. That’s one thing (time) which we’ve all got in the same quantities as Warren Buffett. So, it makes a LOT of sense to treat it for the valuable commodity it really is.
Guard your time by investing in the right tools, Test. It’s one of a few key indicators of radical success which I’ve seen in the millionaire tax professionals I’ve coached…they don’t re-invent the wheel.

As I mentioned above…I’ll be gone for a bit, as my wife and I travel, first to Italy, and then on to Ethiopia. So you won’t be getting a “weekly note” from me during that time (I hope you’ll understand).
